The Medium Skin 0.12mm (SHS-9) is the most durable system in our thin skin range - and for men who prioritize longevity and low-maintenance wear above all else, it's the natural choice.
At 0.12mm thick, the base is noticeably more robust than the ultra-thin alternatives in our range, handling regular attachment and removal with ease and holding up exceptionally well over time. For wearers with an active lifestyle, those new to self-maintenance at home, or anyone who simply wants a system that demands less careful handling, the SHS-9 delivers the reliability they're looking for.
Despite its greater thickness the SHS-9 remains completely transparent against the scalp, with a chemical-free production technique that keeps it shine-free and natural-looking. The base uses single strand technology throughout - each hair individually hand-tied with micro knots for a consistently natural appearance across the entire top.
The front hairline features a subtle scallop rather than a straight edge, creating a more organic, natural-looking shape that mirrors the irregular contour of a real hairline. This considered detail makes a genuine difference to how the system looks in wear particularly at close range - and sets the SHS-9 apart from less refined alternatives.
At 120% density, the SHS-9 also offers a slightly fuller look than the lighter density options in our range, making it a popular choice among men who prefer more volume or whose natural hair was previously thicker.
As with all SHS systems, the SHS-9 is made from 100% human hair, meaning it can be washed, styled and heat treated just like your natural hair. Every unit has been personally worn and tested by us - if we wouldn't trust it with our own appearance, it doesn't make it onto the site.
Please note: If you'd like a thinner, more undetectable base and are comfortable with a shorter lifespan, our Thin Skin 0.08mm (SHS-8) or Super Thin Skin 0.06mm (SHS-7) are both worth exploring alongside this option.
Hair Color
Our hair systems are available in a wide range of colors to match your natural hair as closely as possible. Use the color swatch on this page to select your preferred shade. For the most accurate match, we recommend ordering our color ring, which allows you to compare shades against your natural hair in different lighting conditions. Alternatively, you can send us a sample of your natural hair and we'll help you find the closest match.
Please note that systems featuring a grey percentage use synthetic grey hair blended with human hair as standard - this is industry standard practice as synthetic grey most accurately replicates the natural appearance of grey hair. If you prefer a fully human hair system including the grey, please contact us before ordering and we'll arrange this for you.
Base Resizing
If your pattern of hair loss doesn't match our standard 8" x 10" base size, we offer a Cut To Size service. Simply select your required dimensions at checkout and our technicians will resize the base to achieve a precise, natural-looking fit. Please allow an additional 8–12 working days for delivery when selecting this option.
Perm
If you'd like your hair system to arrive with a curl or wave already applied, select your preferred perm style from the options shown. Please allow an additional 12–16 working days for delivery when selecting this option.
Shipping
All orders are dispatched within 24 hours of payment confirmation. With offices in the US and UK and factory-direct shipping, most customers receive their order within 5–9 business days. All orders are fully tracked - you'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order ships. We offer free shipping on all hair system orders.
Cut To Size orders are typically delivered within 8–12 working days. Orders requiring a Perm service are typically delivered within 12–16 working days.
Returns
Any unworn, unaltered hair system can be returned within 30 days of receipt in its original condition for a full refund or exchange. Systems that have been worn, cut, styled, colored or altered in any way cannot be returned. Please contact us before returning any item and we'll guide you through the process.
If your system develops a fault within 30 days that isn't due to misuse or negligent treatment, please contact us and we'll investigate with a view to remaking or reworking the order at no cost to you.
Taking good care of your hair system will significantly extend its lifespan and keep it looking its best. Here are our essential care tips:
Handling
Always handle your hair system gently. When applying or removing it, take your time and avoid putting unnecessary strain on the hair or the base - particularly if you're using a lace system which requires extra care.
Washing
Use a mild, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Wash the hair in a gentle downward motion to prevent tangling and avoid scrubbing or twisting the base. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water - never hot.
Conditioning
Apply conditioner regularly to keep the hair soft and hydrated. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the base as it can loosen the knots and weaken the bond. Leave-in conditioners are an excellent addition to your routine and help maintain moisture between washes.
Styling Products
Avoid products with high alcohol content as they will dry out the hair and cause premature shedding. Water-based products are the safest option.
Heat Styling
Minimize the use of heat styling tools wherever possible - air drying is always preferable. If you do use heat, always apply a heat protectant spray first and use the lowest effective heat setting. Keep dryers at least six inches from the hair.
Sun Protection
UV exposure causes human hair to dry out and lose color over time. Protect your system by wearing a hat in strong sunlight or using a leave-in product with UV protection - particularly important during summer months or in sunny climates.
Storage
When not wearing your system, store it on a plastic wig head or template mould in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid folding or compressing the base.

Our standard base measures 8" x 10" (width x length) and suits the majority of hair loss patterns straight out of the box. Need more curl?
Every system leaves our factory with a slight wave (32mm) as standard - this body wave works well with most hairstyles, including straight hair. If you prefer more curl or wave, simply select your preferred perm style and we'll apply it at the factory before shipping. Please allow 12–16 working days for delivery when selecting a perm option.
Knotting
The knotting method used across a hair system significantly affects how natural it looks - particularly at the front hairline. On this system all knots are hand-tied (strand-by-strand) throughout the entire base - every hair is individually ventilated to move freely and naturally, just as your own hair would.
Lifespan
The average lifespan of this system is approximately 4-6 months with regular wear and proper care. As a general rule across all hair systems, the more natural and undetectable the base, the shorter its lifespan - this is an inherent trade-off in hair system design. Regular cleaning and gentle handling will help you get the most from your system.
